Bath Decorative Fair
Thank you for inviting me to take part in the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair from March 13th to 15th, 2025, at the Pavilion in Bath, Somerset, UK. 🇬🇧 @rita.jayne.antiques @bathdecfair @wenhsiharmanporcelainart
I attended the private view on the 13th March and was delighted to see my pieces—handmade porcelain chicken feet, smiling blue vases, talking bear, and bananas—displayed alongside your carefully selected objects. I love how your display feels like a treasure box, with so many items playfully engaging in a game of hide and seek.
I also enjoyed discovering the dialogue between ancient Chinese artifacts and contemporary ceramics, brought to life through different material cultures. Your thoughtful approach to engaging with the audience and creating new conversations through display is inspiring.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity—I appreciate your efforts. ❤️
Some details about my work: My handmade porcelain work, Talking Bear, is inspired by my homeland's Taiwanese black bear, one of the country's endangered species. Taiwanese black bears have a distinctive white V-shaped mark on their necks, making them uniques. Through this piece, I. aim to raise awareness about these animals and engage with a winder audience.
Three of my handmade Royale porcelain smiley vases were fortunate to be invited to the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair in Bath, UK. I call them smiley vases because I covered their surfaces with numerous smiling faces, each built using my fingerprints. I am drawn to the concept of blue and white porcelain, as it symbolizes a connection between the West and the East, exploring cultural identity through this precious material. I am grateful to see my works displayed at your stand, Rita Jayne Antiques. I appreciate the dialogue created between the new and the old, between the known and the unknown makers, and between living artists and those who have passed.
