I created four artwork during this Symposium.
1. Fingerprint Vase.
Handmade. Stoneware. Royale porcelain. Glazes
49 x 30 x 29 cm . 38 x 28 x 23 cm. 2 pieces.
I created the fingerprint vase by using stoneware and Royale porcelain, incorporating the traditional Taiwanese cake mould patterns to express my personal identity.
2. Talking bears.
Handmade. Stoneware. Royale porcelain. Glazes.
25 x 13 x 19 cm. 22 x 16 x 21 cm. 23 x 14 x 13 cm. 20 x 15 x 16 cm. 20 x 15 x 11 cm. 5 pieces.
Talking bears could be seen as a call for creative and open-minded dialogue, as a means to foster understanding and communication between people with differing perspectives or cultural backgrounds.
It can be metaphor or symbol for bridging gaps and promoting meaningful conversations in society.
It also could represent the idea of communication and dialogue with the unexpected or unconventional.
3. Love & Peace.
Handmade. Stoneware. Royale porcelain. Glazes.
31 x 38 x 20cm. 34 x 32 x 16cm.
The pursuit of love and peace is powerful concept, which I wish the world can lead to a more harmonious and
compassionate world.
4.Between Wen-Hsi's Formosa bears and you.
Handmade. Stoneware. Royale porcelain. Glazes.
26 x 17 x 7 cm. 24 x 14 x 8 cm. 18 x 13 x 17 cm. 20 x 13 x 11 cm. 19 x 12 x 9 cm. 19 x 12 x 9 cm. 6 pieces.
I continue to investigate the concept of the 'in-betweenness' through my ceramic practice.
I referenced my homeland Formosa black bear to create a series of bear heads.
I enjoyed working with local people during this symposium. I attended two workshops
